At Namanya Memorial Community Library, we believe that every child deserves access to books and the joy of reading. That’s why we partnered with Read And Learn Foundation to created Literacy on Wheels, a unique program that takes books directly to the community of the Nansana. With our trusty bicycles and boxes full of books, we’re on a mission to inspire a love for reading, one home at a time.
What is Literacy on Wheels?
Literacy on Wheels is a mobile library initiative designed to reach families and children who may not have easy access to our physical library. Every week, our team of passionate volunteers pedals through the community, bringing books, storytelling sessions, and educational resources right to your doorstep.
What We Do
Mobile Library: We carry boxes of carefully selected books for all ages, from picture books for toddlers to chapter books for older children.
Reading Sessions: Our volunteers host interactive reading sessions, bringing stories to life and encouraging children to explore the magic of books.
Awareness Campaigns: We spread the word about the importance of reading and share information about the resources and programs available at the library.
Community Engagement: We visit families, schools, and community centers, building connections and fostering a culture of literacy.
